Board Members: Ray Hickey, Chuck Conditt, Fred Gund, Larry McGrath, Joyce Knapp and Cleon Gomilla. Welcome Aboard: We have Barbara and Curtis Hall, the new owners of Unit 900. We wish the Conditts well. Manager’s Report: *Please remind everyone to come to the Annual Meeting on March 6 at 10:00 AM in the Patio Room and to vote! *The Pool, Pier, Beach, Patio Tables & Exercise Room are to be used AT YOUR RISK! The Association assumes no responsibility for injuries. *Vehicle lights should be “ON” in the Parking Garage & a 5 MPH speed. *Each Elevator cab will be out of service for 3 months; it is MANDATORY that all deliveries be scheduled. Please be courteous and patient. Q Yuck, my “brother-in-law” is coming to visit – “Dear Abby, is there any help?” A No Problem. Remember that Bayshore has Unit 100, a furnished 2 bedroom, 2-bathroom suite available for a small fee – reservations required with the Manager’s Office. Mail Room: A Media Center with free maps of Florida, Mississippi, Alabama, Louisiana, and now Tennessee are available. The only tongue-in-cheek comment was from Roland Namtvedt who said, “Where’s the North Dakota’s map?” Editor “thinks” it may have been dropped in the snow while in transit. In addition, the maps of Pensacola, Navarre & New Orleans, plus Area Activities are now available. Thank you, Jenny for the new holders. This cabinet area is NOT for outside private brochures, junk mail or magazines. Momma Said: A nickel in your pocket is worth more than two in someone else’s. Kudos: Lundi Gras was a wonderful party! There were red beans & rice, chicken & sausage gumbo, maque choux, pirolenes, jambalaya & lots of other good food. Special Thanks to Helen McGrath & The Welcome Committee, the decorators & clean-up people. FYI – Don Knudson got the “baby” in the King Cake – surely, a party will be forthcoming! BIG IRISH PARTY: St. Patrick’s Day Party scheduled on March 17 at 6:00 PM. Mark your calendar, check your closet for something “GREEN” to wear & decide what food you will bring. Residents are reminded to cover all dishes in transit. Helen & Larry McGrath & the McGrath Clan will host this party.
Welcome Committee: A Driving Class by AARP was presented at Bayshore at the end of January. Successful completion of the class gave a 10% reduction in vehicle insurance. Special Thanks to Helen McGrath for this activity. Learned that the new way to hold the steering wheel is the 9 – 3 or the 8 - 4 position; otherwise, an inflated air bag may break your arms. Wreath & Balcony Wars: February has some beautiful door décor; highlights are doors 200, 201, 204, 205, 206, 207, 208, 307, 301, 302, 406, 408, 604, 606, 602, 707, 804, 904, 901, 902, 1000, 1004, 1006, 1008, 1204, 1208, & 1203. Balcony nighttime lighting now includes colorful solar lights that change from red, blue & green – you will just have to spot them, there are 8! Second Floor Ficus Trees: Residents have a St. Paddy’s & Easter Tree. Many stuffed animals (bunnies have multiplied) and are available for children & grandchildren visiting the bldg. Come peek” and see the possibilities if you would get involved in the upgrades on “YOUR” floor! Another Amenity: A Wireless Internet system has been activated at Bayshore. It is accessible in the Patio & Bay Rooms. Look in the System Tray (lower right on a computer monitor) & you will see BAYSHORE in Caps. What did he say? A FREE Hearing Test is available at 1-800-222-3277, Monday – Friday. You talk to a “human” who gives a series of tones (best done on a landline). You will be advised if you need to be referred for a hearing test! Second Annual Polar Bear Plunge: Michael Homer won the 2010 trophy of 100 lights for his January 1st Bayshore pool plunge. This year there were balcony spectators & cheerleading too, so the event is growing! Door Guards: Many residents have added door guards under the doors to conserve energy. Some floors have residents with teamwork, which are taking an interest & pride in upgrading their floors. Bank Ratings: Check the Financial Health of your Bank, Thrift & Credit Union at bankrate.com. Type in “Safe & Sound Ratings” into the Search Bar. The site ranks each institution on a scale of 1 to 5. It is good to check the financial strength of your institutions. Sage: In the cookies of life, friends are the chocolate chips. Disclaimer: This newsletter is not affiliated with or owned by the Bayshore Condominium Association.
